The Executive Director of Kosmos Innovation Center (KIC), Benjamin Gyan-Kesse, and the Vice President of Global Social Investment, and Country Director for Sao Tome and Principe, Kosmos Energy, Tara Connor visited KIC-incubated businesses in the Central Region of Ghana. The Design Thinking and Innovation Hub (D-Hub) at the University of Cape Coast hosted the team.

KIC and its partners were on a mission to strengthen incubated businesses across the country. Moreover, the purpose of the visit was to evaluate progress and discuss strategies to scale-up the businesses. The visit also aimed to identify strategic interventions that would enhance business growth and long-term sustainability.

Highlighting the strengths of the businesses, AgroCold’s technology is globally recognized and has the potential to scale beyond the local region. The Executive Director indicated that:

Your technology is widely recognized and acceptable. I saw similar operations in the United States. Your approach has significant grounds to establish in Ghana and other African countries. Let us keep the engagement and explore the pathways.

He added:

Businesses within the KIC portfolio have demonstrated resilience and immense growth potential. KIC and its partners remain committed to fostering entrepreneurship and providing the necessary support to enable the agribusinesses to thrive and contribute to economic growth in Ghana.

Additionally and as part of the ongoing engagement with AgroCold, Kamil Nabong, the KIC Portfolio Manager, visited the operational sites of the company. He evaluated the operational requirements and suggested strategies for scale-up and growth.

Takeaway

The engagement showed that when innovation, partnership, and sustained mentorship come together, local agribusinesses evolve into globally competitive enterprises. The progress discussed reflects not only resilience and technical relevance but also the growing confidence that solutions developed in Ghana can scale across Africa and beyond.

KIC and its partners assured to continuously provide strategic guidance and investment support. The opportunity for AgroCold lies in translating this momentum into concrete growth pathways, stronger operational systems, and expanded market reach. AgroCold remains engaged in nurturing collaborative ecosystems to reduce food loss, create jobs, and strengthen the food system.
